Recent years have witnessed a thriving arts scene in Ullapool. A group of local Artists and enthusiasts has come together to form ‘An Talla Solais’ to create a dedicated Arts Centre for the village and its surroundings. With the closure of the Arts Centre in Inverness, such a project would provide the only Visual Arts Centre on the Mainland in the Highlands.
 
A 1970s Library in need of refurbishment and an unused 1980s Medical Centre have been targeted for potential re-development and Locate have been asked to assess the feasibility of various options.

The two buildings will need to be tied together visually as well as technically and the immediate surroundings are in need of some care and attention so the challenge is to affect a degree of integration at many levels whilst creating inspirational and functionally acceptable spaces. The options will be presented to the Community on the 30th November.
