Working with Gaia Architects, Chris Morgan was involved in the initial stages of community facilitation and feasibility which took place in the late 1990s and subsequently with some of the design development. Having left Gaia, Chris was sub-contracted to run the project on site as one of Locate's first projects. It successfully opened in early October 2004.

Built to a tight budget and designed to SportScotland standards, the steel frame building features high levels of energy efficiency, including extensive progress in airtightness detailing, and a good regard for the indoor climate through low levels of mechanical plant and natural finishes.
