The Camping and Caravanning Club contacted Locate Architects
to help with ensuring that the refurbishment of their amenity block at
the campsite at Glencoe be as sustainable as possible, in line with the
ethos of the adjacent Visitor Facilities.
Commissioned to prepare a small report only, Locate made a series of recommendations
after a study of the proposed drawings and discussions with the project
Engineers.
The main recommendations related to the ongoing energy and
maintenance costs of the block and so proposals were put forward regarding
the boiler and related hot water services, water supply arrangements and
lighting in particular. A number of these were taken on significantly
improving the long term environmental performance, and reducing the maintenance
burden and cost-in-use of the block for the Client.
