Designed by Passivhaus Associates colleague Graham Drummond and his son-in-law Stephen McPhail, Snug Within near St. Andrews, Fife will be home to Graham, wife Fiona and their disabled adult son Robbie. The house will be located in part of the garden ground of their current home. An important aspect of the project is the need for a single level home with some specialised aspects for Robbie who has Dravet Syndrome, a catastrophic neurological condition.

Chris has been working closely with Graham to complete the details for what will be an exceptionally high performing (and certified) Passivhaus. The planning process was prolonged, but permission was granted early in 2013 and a Building Warrant application submitted in July.

Building on the success of their first certified passivhaus at Craigrothie, Graham and Chris have developed a ultra energy efficient house with lots of natural light and a healthy specification internally.

After further delays, the ground was cleared in early 2015 and building work began in earnest in April 2015.
