After Andrew and Joanne had been to the office a few years ago, it was great to hear from them earlier this year following their purchase of this lovely old house near Carnoustie. They intend to extensively refurbish and modernise the house so its ready for the next 50 years!

Tree Nursery House – as its name suggests – was the Tree Nursery Manager’s House on a large Estate outside Carnoustie and the childhood home of well known actor Alan Cumming! It is surrounded by lovely garden ground and a number of dramatic specimen trees and boasts expansive views South back towards Carnoustie.

The intention is to restore the original fabric, but to open up the building internally to make the most of the available space and light by turning a number of smaller spaces into one large living area and with better access to the garden. High levels of insulation and high performance windows and doors will complement natural and bright internal finishes. A new biomass-only heating system will be installed. With Planning and Building warrant granted, work has now started on site.
