Dunblane Development Trust / Braeport Action Group

Nov. 13 Mar.14

The local community are hoping to take over ownership and running of this Centre from Stirling Council under the ‘Asset Transfer’ process. With funding from ‘Investing in Ideas’, the Braeport Action Group have been able to engage Chris Morgan from Locate and Lesley Campbell from STAR Development Group to undertake a Feasibility Study into the potential refurbishment and re-development of the Centre.

Like many Victorian-era buildings, the Centre is in need of some important improvements, not least in terms of energy efficiency, but initial feedback from User Groups have also indicated some layout and facilities issues to address.

An extensive community consultation was undertaken alongside the development of a matrix of requirements and needs drawn from a range of regulatory and aspirational sources. From this a business plan has been prepared by STAR Developments and Locate have prepared two costed Development Proposals. These have been presented to the DDT Board and the project team are now actively investigating funding options alongside the asset transfer discussions.
